about

Recorded at the Dojo in Cheltenham, The Healing Crow is a tribute to the late Damon T our friend and collaborator in all things musical.

The song was born when I visited Damon during his final weeks (cancer was finally getting the better of him) and he gave me a set of lyrics he wanted to sing with me and record for his final album -

‘Carve my name in stone
Save this wandering soul
Carry me, carry me home
Calling on the healing crow’

I never saw him again but I did keep the lyrics and wrote a song around them - weirdly for how much we collaborated this would be the first song to be properly co-written.

All profits will go to the NHS who helped Damon so much before he passed. I will also personally deliver the physical CD, complete with full stunning artwork by Yvette Ellis, to anyone who purchases the single here. For anyone who would like one but who isn't local message us and we'll come to some sort of arrangement. The CDs cost about £2 to manufacture so about £3 will go to charity for each purchase if you pay the suggested £5. If you choose to pay more, any extra will also go the the NHS so please be generous ;)

If you didn’t know Damon but are inspired to find out more you can find him at damont.bandcamp.com

Anyway much love and ‘peace’ as Damon would say 😉

Rest in peace brother xxx

- Luke

lyrics

Carve my name in Stone
Save this wandering soul
Carry me, carry me home
Calling on the healing crow

Those were the words to your song
Since your bird has flown
Now I sing them alone
Calling on that old healing crow

You felt it in your bones
Soon you'd have to go
And journey on beyond
Calling on that old healing crow

Breathtakingly powerful vocals, raw delta blues styled guitar and an almost tribal foot-stomping beat combine with a potent cocktail of saxophone, violin and harmonica to create a special atmosphere. ... more
